Abstract

This research was realized at Seropédica, RJ, Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro and aimed to evaluate feces mineral composition from Sind, F1 Simmental x Nellore and Mediterranean buffaloes. It was utilized 21 animals, seven Sind, seven F1 Simmental x Nellore and seven Mediterranean buffaloes, separated by genetic group and placed in collective boxes of 160 m2. Feces were collected from animal rectum and analyzed. The experimental design was completely randomized.. Feces from Sind cattle presented higher dry matter content (17.3 %) than F1 Simmental x Nellore (15.6 %) cattle and buffaloes (15.7 %). Buffaloes presented smaller value for ash (9.3 %) than Sind and F1 Simmental x Nellore cattle, whose values were 11.5 e 12.7 %, respectively. Values for neutron detergent fiber (NDF) were higher in buffaloes (52.9 %) than Sind (46.8 %) and F1 Simental x Nelore (43.2 %) cattle. For NDF, hemi-cellulose, phosphorus and calcium there were not difference, while for nitrogen, Sind and F1 Simmental x Nellore cattle presented higher content than buffaloes (13.03 and 13.77 vs 10.47g kg-1). Sind cattle obtained higher potassium than F1 Simmental x Nellore and buffaloes (16.37 vs 10.81 e 10.37g kg-1). For magnesium, buffaloes obtained higher content than Sind and F1 Simmental x Nellore cattle (2.20 vs 3.62 e 3.28 g kg-1). For the mineral manganese there was not statistic difference between genetic groups, while for sodium the cattle F1 Simmental x Nellore presented higher value than cattle Sindi (5.66vs 2.58g kg-1) and this obtained superior results to buffaloes (2.58 vs 0.95g kg-1). In relation to iron the feces of buffaloes presented smaller contents compared the cattle Sindi and F1 Simmental x Nellore (0.294 vs 0.460 e 0.586). Cattle F1 Simmental x Nellore presented feces with higher content of copper (0.050g kg-1) than buffaloes and cattle Sindi (0.014 e 0.030g kg-1). For the concentration on zinc in feces, cattle F1 Simmental x Nellore presented the higher content of this micromineral (0.220g kg-1), while the feces deriveds of Sindi Cattle presented higher content of zinc than buffaloes (0.168 vs 0.117g kg-1). It was concluded that buffaloes feces have higher fiber concentration, less of ash and minerals.
