Abstract

The trial was carried out at the Estação Experimental de Zootecnia de Gália, State of São Paulo, from May to August 1996, with the purpose to evaluate the naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) effects on sprouting of mulberry cuttings. The experimental design was completely randomized blocks arranged in 3X4X2 factorial, with 3 replications and 10 cuttings for experimental unit. The cuttings of IZ13/6, IZ29/1 and IZ11/9 cultivars received previous treatment with distilled water (T0), solution with NAA 2.0% (T1), solution with NAA 3.5% (T2) and solution with NAA 5.0% (T3) and were planted under two soil conditions, with and without irrigation. Based in the results, was observed that the IZ13/6 cultivar presented the smallest percentage of sprouting; the treatment with distilled water was better than the treatments with NAA, which no presented significant differences between themselves, and the treatments with or without irrigation no varied.
