Abstract

Dry matter and crude protein production and nutritive value of pangola grass hay was studied under four production systems, at Instituto de Zootecnia, Itapetininga,SP. A randomized block design with 5 replications was used, and the treatments were: 1- forage harvested each 56 days, (3 harvests and 3 fertilization in the year); 2- forage harvested each 84 days, (2 harvests and 2 fertilization in the year); 3- forage harvested with 112 days of growth, (1 harvest and 1 fertilization in the year) and 4- forage harvested with 140 days of growth, (1 harvest and 1 fertilization in the year). It was applied at the beginning of each growth period 270, 250 and 110 kg/ha of amonium sulfate, single superphosphate and potassium cloride. The results suggested that the sistem 1 was more viable for hay production, thought the sistem 3 and 4 were more productively for harvest.
