Abstract

The aim of this experiment was to compare two methods of chemical treatment in silkworm eggs, Bombyx-mori, at pre-diapause with another at diapause, comprising 35 days of estivation and 65 days of hibernation. It was carried out using 2400 silkworm eggs, of which 1200 were hybrid C108xN115 and 1200 N1l5xC108. The statistical design was the completely randomized one arranged in a 2x3 factorial (2 origins and 3 chemical treatments), with 4 replications, the experimental unit being a container with 100 eggs. The chemical treatments were: hot chemical bath, cold chemical bath with HCI and diapause with 35 days of estivation and 65 days of hibernation followed by chemical bath with hot HC1. In all treatments, after the bath, the eggs were placed in an incubator at 25°C to favor hatching. The statistical analysis of the number of born larvae slowed differences between treatments (P<0.01). The chemical treatments carried out at pre-diapause were equivalent but statistically superior to the diapause treatment.
