Abstract

The purpose of this paper was to study the possibility of the use avalable phosphorus levels in rations for laying hens below the ones usually recommend. Three levels of phosphorus were used €” 0.235; 0.338 and 0.646% in rations containing 16% protein and 2,700 kcal M.E. The experimental period was 252 days. The phosphorus levels did not influence shell thickness and livability. A better egg production was observed for the highest phosphorus level. Egg weight and feed conversion were better when the lowest phosphorus level was used. Higher bird live weight was observed with the intermediary phosphorus level.
