Abstract

Three experiments (pure sugarcane, sugar cane plus sodium hydroxide or sugar cane plus urea) were developed at Instituto de Zootecnia, in Nova Odessa, SP, to evaluate the forage digestibility. In all experiments it was used 0, 40, 80 and 120 kg of whole ground ear corn/ton of the forage. Nutritive value was estimated with 16 ewes averaging 30 kg of liveweight, throught total feces collection method, in three periods of 10, 10 and 5 days of adaptation, intake and collection periods, respectively. Independently of the whole ground ear corn level, sodium hydroxide increased the dry matter digestibility, though, not increasing the dry matter and total digestible nutrients intake. By the other hand, urea increased digestibility of dry matter and total digestible nutrients intake.
