Abstract

The present study had the purpose of evaluate the effects of pre-planting treatment on the sprouting of cuttings from mulberry selected cultivars. The experiment was carried out at the UPD €“ Gália, from 12/08/04 to 05/01/2005, compared four mulberry cultivars (IZ 56/4, IZ 10/4, IZ 40 and FM 86), three pre-planting treatment (T0 -control; T1- immersion of cuttings base in water for 24 hours and T2 €“ cold ware housing 5oC for 24 hours) and two cuttings diameter (greater and smaller). The experimental design was completely randomized blocks arranged in 4X3X2 factorial, with three replications and 10 cuttings for experimental unit, totalized 720 cuttings. Greater percentagem of sprouting was obtained for the cutting of the cultivars IZ 56/4 and IZ 10/ 4, when utilized with greater diameter and treated with immersion of cuttings base in water for 24 hours.
