Abstract

The objectives of this work were to evaluate population density of the tiller (PDT), production of dry mass and leave area grass Xaraés, cultivated under rates of nitrogen and potassium. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse during november/2004 a february/ 2005. An factorial 4x3 design was used finishing 12 combinations, which had been distributed in a complete randomized design with four replications with a total 48 experimental units. Four rates of nitrogen had been used (0, 75, 150 and 225 mg dm-3), three rates of potassium (0, 50 and 100 mg dm-3). Interaction N x K was observed inside cut with bigger DPP found in 3º cut of dose 50 mg kg-1 and in the biggest dose of N (225 mg kg-1). The biggest production of dry mass and leave area had been found in 2º cut in 165.14 doses 187.56 and mg kg-1 of N, respectively. The results indicate that the potassium fertilization is indispensable this cultive, mainly when use high rates of N.
