Abstract

The objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of the addition of a multienzyme complex containing a-galactosidase, galactomanase, b-glucanase in diets for piglets in nursery phase. The experiment was conducted in the Animal Science Department of the Federal University of Lavras, in Lavras, MG. Sixty piglets barrows and females, crossbreds (Landrace x Large White) with initial weight of 8.52 ± 1.2kg, allotted in groups of three (experimental unit) were utilized. The randomized blocks design (initial weight) was used, with five treatments and four repetitions. The treatments consisted in a basal diet without addition of multienzyme complex (control) and others four within 0.01; 0.02; 0.03 and 0.04% of this product. The daily average feed intake, the daily average weight gain, the fed:gain ratio, the relative liver and pancreas weight and diarrhea incidence were evaluated. No significant differences (P>0.05) were found for any of the evaluated parameters. It was conclude that the use of the multienzyme complex containing galactosidase, galactomanase, xylanase and glucanase until 0.04% in diets for piglets in nursery phase, formulated with corn and soybean meal, does not change the performance, the pancreas and liver weight and the diarrhea incidence.
