Abstract

A competition trial for dry matter and crude protein production with 6 legumes and 6 tropical grasses was conducted at Pindamonhangaba, State of São Paulo, Brazil. The forage plants were submited to two conditions: fertilized and not fertilized. It was determined also the crude protein and crude fiber. Paspafum guenoarum Arechand Stylosanthes guyanensis Sw. cv. IRI-1022 gave the higher dry matter and crude protein yields. Panicum maximum Jacq. - coloninho and Centrosema pubesceris Benth had the higher crude protein contenta. Every forage plants responded to fertilization, except Melinis minutiflora Paim. de Beauv.
