Abstract

A common problem to the researchers is how to evaluate the adequacy of the coefficients of variation (C.V.) in their experiments. The objetive was to analyse the C.V. of the forage experiments (grasses and legumes), carried out in Brazil and published in the principal journals from 1950 to 1990, One thousand and fifty four experiments were analysed and the distribuition of C.V. was studied. The average of C.V. for grasses, legumes and mixtures were, respectively, 16.58%; 16.50% and 20.53%. The classification of C.V. depends on the variable studied.
