Abstract

Twenty six Santa Gertrudis crossed animals with 22 months of age, weighting 350 kg in average were confined during 84 days. The following treatments were compared: A = sugar cane (choppy) ad libitum, 2.5 kg whole ground ear corn/head/ /day, 1.5 cottonseed ou meal/head/day, 0.120 kg urea and suphur (together with the mineral salt); B = the same, only removing the urea and sulphur. The trial was carried out during the months of drouth (June-September) of 1985. A completely randomized block design with treatments and thirteen replicates were used. Average daily weight gains were: A €” 1.20 kg/head, and B = 0.95 kg/head; the results submitted to the statistical showed a difference (P < 0.05) among treatments. There are some economical viabilities concerned to the feedlot and the use of urea + sulphur.
