Abstract

Milk production of Polwarth and Corriedale ewes on pasture was estimated by oxytocin method, and milk component and lamb growth were measured from until 9th week. Milk production at 7th 14th 21st 28th 35th 42nd 56th and 63rd day were 0.84; 1.25; 1.32; 1.13; 1.05; 0.91; 0.74 and 0.54 kg for the Polwarth ewes and 0.98; 1.38; 1.49; 1.11; 1.01; 0.86; 0.72 and 0.42 kg for the Corriedale ewes. Polwarth lambs mean weight in the 7th day was 4.83 kg and it was observed a linear growth as the lambs aged arriving to 13.28 kg in the 63rd day. Corriedale lambs mean weight in the 7th day was 5.49 kg arriving to 13.48 kg at 63rd day, with linear growth as the lambs aged. Fat percentage for the total period was 7.01 for Polwarth breed and 7.45 for the Corriedale breed. Total dry solid for the Polwarth ewes were 16.80 and 17.42 for Corriedale ewes.
