Abstract

This trial was carried out in the Posto Experimental de Limeira, State of São Paulo, Brazil, in the period 1979-1984, with the objective to test the mulberry leaves yield of nine natural hibrids and ten artificial hibrids, to compare with the calabresa, widely used comercial mulberry variety. The experimental design adapted was a comp!etely randomised block, with twenty treatments and six replications, using six plants per experimental unity, conducted by €œcepo€ training. The mean date obtained after fourteen harvestings for weight of mulberry leaves demonstrated that the cultivars lZ.13/6 and lZ.56/4 showed the biggest leaves production, nevertheless do not demonstrate significative difference with the cultivars IZ.5, IZ.1O, IZ.18, IZ.34, lZ.40, lZ.64, lZ.1018, IZ.19/13 and IZ.29/1.
