Abstract

Twenty-four dairy heifers (high grade Holstein) from 12 to 18 months of age were divided into eight similar lots and were fed with three different concentrates about 2kg per animal per day and com silage ad libitum. The concentrates were: A €” com meal 80% and soybean ou meal 20%; B - whole ground ear com 78% and raw soybean 22%, and C - whole ground ear com 78% and roasted soybeans 22%. The average weight gains were: 97.75; 76.68 and 74.43kg. Treatment A was different from B and C in weight gain (P‰¤ 0.01) and crude protein intake (P ‰¤ 0.05). Other analysis of variance: height gain, lenght of body gain, girth of chest gain and dry matter intake, were not significants. The conversion rates were 1:7.62; 1:9.41 and 1:9.74 for A, B and C, respectively.
