Abstract

The experiment was carried out at Estação Experimental Central of the Instituto de Zootecnia, Nova Odessa, SP, in a clayey soil. It was compared four mechanized sowing systems to establish mixed pasture (Setaria anceps Stapf. cv. Kazungula and Galactia striata (Jacq.) Urb.): A) broadcast; B) broadcast and posterior sou compaction with smooth rubber land roiler; C) in lines, on soil surface and simultaneous compaction with indented iron land roller; D) in lines, on rows (1 to 2cm of depth) and simultaneous compacton by iron vheel. It was also studied for the legume, two sowing densities (4 and 8kg/ha). The results showed that the method A, due to lak of compaction, was the least efficient, presenting less number of Setaria and Galactia plants, in addiction to less amount of dry matter and protein per area for the grass. The elevation of the Galactia sowing rate (4 to 8kg/ha). resulted in increasing of the legume number of plants, percentage of soil covering area, and amount of dry matter and protein per area.
