Abstract

It was developed, at Instituto de Zootecnia, Nova Odessa, SP, Brazil, an experiment to evaluate the effects of nitrogen and potassium fertilizations on the production and nutritive value of colonião - grass hay. The production was evaluated under a N x K factorial (0,1 and 2 levels of N) and (0 and 1 levels of K) in a randomized block design with 4 replications.Nutritive value was determined through male Ideal sheep, 12 to 18 month-old through classical method of total feces colection, using a randomized complete block design with 3 replications. The nitrogen fertilization increased the intake of TDN, however, it did not affect the intake of DM. Although through the statistical analysis may be concluded that the DM and TDN intake decreased by the fertilization with potassium, the percentage of crude fiber of the hays may have influenced the intake, not allowing a definite conclusion about the effects of the potassium fertilization on the nutritive value of colonião-grass hay.
