Abstract

The animals were slaughted in the Instituto de Zootecnia em Nova Odessa, SP, to compare weights and measures of several body contents in bovines and buffaloes with same age and raised in pasture of green panic (Panicum maximum. Jacq). It was utilized 24 males with an average of 24 months of age, composed by three genetic groups: Nelore breed and Mediterraneum and Jafarabadi buffaloes in a design with 8 replication. Results for Nelore, Mediterraneum and Jafarabadi genetic groups was, respectively, as follow: liveweight (kg) = 489.12(a), 513.25(a), 498.87(a); ful weight of rumen reticulum 37.56(B), 52.42(A), 53.33(A); full weight of intestine (kg) = 17.56(a), 18.93(a), 18.44(a); length of the intestine (m) = 36.04(A), 26.95(8), 26.13(B); length of total intestine (m) = 43.29(A), 34.75(B), 34,81(B); kidneys (kg) = 0.76(8), 0.96(A), 0.92(A); liver (kg) = 4.97(B), 6.05(A), 5.94(A); heart (kg) 1.35(B). 1.93(A), 1.85(AB); adrenais (kg) = 0.022(b), 0.034(a), 0.032(ab); thyroid (kg) = 0.056(B), 0.081(AB), 0.091(A); testicles (g) = 542.0(A), 304.0(B), 237.0(8). Means followed by different big and little letters showed a significant difference at level of (P ‰¤ 0,01) and (P ‰¤ 0.05) respectively by Tukey test.
