Abstract

This research was carried out in order to evaluate the inhibitory effects of aqueous extracts (0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5% v/v) of Brachiaria decumbens and B. brizantha cv. Marandu on germination, length and dry mass of roots, shoots, and dry mass of cotyledons of pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan cv. Kaki). The results allowed to conclude that aqueous extracts of Brachiaria have allelopathic potential on radicle growth (length and dry mass), and dry mass of seedlings of pigeon pea.
