Abstract

In the present work, we developed several extensive experiments with Pollwart (€œIdeal€™) and Corriedale sheep flocks, at the Posto de Ovinos e Caprinos de Itapetininga, Instituto de Zootecnia, Secretaria da Agricultura do Estado de São Paulo, with the aim of investigating the effects of the season on the pre-weaning growth of lambs. No differences were observed in relation to pre-weaning mortality among lambs born in the Fall/Winter or in the Spring. The birth weight of Pollwart lambs was higher in the Spring than in Fall/Winter.
