Abstract

The objective of the experiment was to study a possible relationship among some feedlot performance traits of Canchim bulls and biochemical genetic markers (haemoglobin, transferrin, nucleosideo phosphorylase) in three identified different groups of animals for muzzle coloration (dark, pink and intermediate pigmentation). Data were obtained on 50 animals, fed in the São Jorge Farm Feedlot (Cedral, SP) which started the feeding period with an average of 327 kg and 20 months of age and remained in feedlot during 120 days. The blood samples for determination of the biochemical polymorphic groups were obtained in the last weighing. The results indicated no significant genetic markers. There was also no association of the colours of the muzzle and the genetic markers.
