Abstract

A sample of 125 males, from the herds of the Sertãozinho€™s Experimental Station (SP), submitted to performance test, was used to observe the Castle-Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium for transferrin polymorphism. Another objective was to verify a possible relationship with growth traits like birth weight (PN), weaning weight (P210), test initial weight (PIP), test final weight (PFP), 378- day weight (P378), 112-day weight gain, (G112) and scrotal perimeter (PERESC). Statistical analysis were performed by least square means for unbalanced subclass numbers and the chi-square test was utílized to check the Castle-Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. Adjusted means and standard errors for PN, P210, PIP, PFP, P378, G112 and PERESC, were respectívdy; AA = 29.91 ± 0.79; AB = 32.63 ± 1.09; AE = 31.13 ± 0.70; DD = 31.31 ± 1.57; DE = 33.70 ± 0.86; EE = 30.93 ± 0.78; AA = 184.71 ± 4.79; AD = 190.62 ± 6.59; AE = 186.00 ± 4.23; DD = 186.34 ± 9.54; DE = 185.48 ± 5.20; EE = 186.99 ± 4.75; AA = 209.42 ± 5.60; AD = 219.32 ± 7.71; AE = 220.48 ± 4.95; DD = 220.52 ± 11.16; DE = 214.69 ± 6.09; EE = 222.46 ± 5.56; AA = 308.15 ± 6.57; AD = 303.96 ± 9.03; AE = 306.70 ± 5.80; DD = 308.73 ± 13.80; DE = 305.03 ± 7.14; EE = 303.59 ± 6.52; AA = 317.81 ± 6.80; AD = 317.59 ± 9.35; AE = 315.33 ± 6.00; DD = 318.65 ± 13.54; DE = 320.99 ± 7.59; EE = 308.39 ± 6.75; AA = 0.792 ± 0.024; AD = 0.755 ± 0.034; AE = 0.769 ± 0.022; DD = 0.787 ± 0.049; DE = 0.806 ± 0.027; EE = 0.722 ± 0.024; AA = 22.83 ± 0.49; AD = 23.52 ± 0.73; AE = 22.85 ± 0.43; DD = 23.19 ± 0.99; DE = 22.60 ± 0.54; EE = 22.81 ± 0.50.The transferrin type influenced significantly the birth weight, and the highest mean was for Tf DE transferrin type. The phenotypic frequencies for the transferrin type were in equilibrium of Castle- Hardy-Weinberg.
