Abstract

The present work was carried out at instituto de Zootecnia, Nova Odessa - SP. The main objective of the experiment was to study the senstiveness of forage legumes to, post-emergence herbicides. It consisted of two phases: In Phase I (€œScreening phase€) it was applied seven herbicides (acifluorten-sodic, bentazon, chloroxuron, dinoseb (acetate), dinoseb (salt) alcolonomin, diclofop-methyl and M.S.M.A., in three doses on eleven forage legumes (Cajanus cajan (L.) Mills, Centrosema pubescens Benth., Desmanthus virgatus (L) Willd.,Desmodium Intortum (Mill.) Urb, Galactia striata (Jacq.) Urb, Leucaena leucocephala (Lam.) de Will., Macroptilium atropurpureum Dc., Medicago sativa L., Glycine wightii Verdc., Stylosanthes guyanensis (Aubl.) Swartz and Trifolium repens L). It was utilized employed a randomized block design with three replications. According to a subjective criteria of grades the herbicides least phytotoxics were acifluorfen-sodics, bentazon, chloroxuron, e diclofop-methyl. In Phase II: these herbicides were applied in eight legumes in the following: chloroxuron (Centrosema pubescens, Cajanus cajan. Desmantflus virgatus, Leucaena leucocephala, Galactia striata, Macroptilium atropurpureum, Glycine wightii and Stylosanthes) ; bentazon (Centrosema pubescens, Cajanus cajan, Galactia striata and Leucaena leucocephala); diclofop-methyi (Cajanus cajan e Stylosanthes guyanensis) and acifluorfen-sodics (Stylosanthes guyanensis). The parameters evaluated were: dry matter production and nodulation (number and weight of nodules). In general the herbicides didn€™t affect significantly these parameters, except for bentazon and chloroxuron which decreased the forage production of Cajanus cajan.
