1/29 Robertsonian translocation and chimaerism in brown Swiss cattle

Abstract

Blood samples of 63 head of Brown Swiss cattle born in Nova Odessa, State of São Paulo, Brazil, took from 1980 to 1983 and 17 imported from the United States were submitted to a cytogenetic analysis through the chromosome metaphasic culture of lymphocytes. Five animals showed abnormalities in their chromosomes. Three animals (one male and two females freemartins) of heterosexual twins showed chimerism (60,XX/60,XY). Two females, one born in Brazil and one imported showed 1/29 Robertsonian translocation.
