Depth of sowing influence on the emergence of forage grasses and legumes

Abstract

Three sowing depths €” 0.0, 2,5 and 5.0cm of three legumes €” glicine (Glycine wightii), galaxia (Galactia striata) and labelabe (Macrotyloma lablab), and two grasses €” colonião (Panicum maximum) and braquiária (Brachiaria decumbens) €” were studied in a green house experiment carried out at the Estação Experimental Central of the Instituto de Zootecnia, Nova Odessa (SP). Results showed that the 2.5cm treatment was statistically better for the three legumes. For the grasses the best treatment was 0.0cm (surface sowing though not significant.
