Abstract

The present study aimed to determine the hay point of three mulberry cultivars. It was conducted during 2004, using the dependences of the Unidade de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento de Gália-SP, APTA/SAA. Branches of the IZ 56/4, IZ 40 and Korin cultivars have been harvested with at 70 days of vegetative development, chopped and taken for dehydration under the shade, being removed samples of this material in different hours of the day (8:00, 12:00, 16:00 and 20:00 o€™clock) for attainment of dry mater, calculation of humidity loss of the branch and determination of hay point. With 30 hours of exposition , approximately, the IZ 40 e Korin cultivars had reached the hay point, whereas the branches of the IZ 56/4 cultivar had needed more time for dehydration (upper 36 hours).
