Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate 91 alfalfa€™s genetic access at São Carlos, Central region of São Paulo State - Brazil, with Crioula cultivar as reference. The experiment was carried out in a dystrophic Red Yellow Latosol (Acrudox-Haplutox) in a randomized block design, with two replicates. In fourteen evaluation cuts significant differences were found for dry matter production, and LEN 4, P30, Crioula, Barbara SP INTA and P5715 showed high dry matter production, with mean values above 1600kg/ha/cut of dry matter. When seasonality of dry matter production of the best access (LEN 4) and the best adapted cultivar to region (Crioula) were compared, it was verified that the Crioula had better distribution of production during the year, eventhough LEN 4 was more productive.
