Abstract

With the aim to improve green manure input in wet or flooded soils using biomass of Azolla filiculoides, it was carried out a green house experiment with hidromorphic soil on which it was incorporated increasing amounts of that biomas. The Azolla was obtained under pure nutritiva solution and in a flooded soil. Azolla€™s cultivation under 28°C of temperature and diff use light, gave good development. The biomass took 55 hours to duplicate. The Azolla green matter incorporated on the soil gave significant increases of dry matter production and total N for Setaria anceps cv. Kazungula in the first two cuttings. Less than 20 ton/ha of biomass gave no increases on dry matter production and total N for that grass.
